Sorry it's been a few days, but I finally made it to Melbourne! YAY! And it's amazing. And the people are so cool. And I love it here already. But vegemite is awful (sorry, Aussies).
The flights:
5 hours from JFK to LAX
14 hours from LAX to Auckland International Airport.
5 hour wait in Auckland (New Zealand is beautiful from the sky!)
4 hours from Auckland to Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport
20 minutes from Tullamarine to Uni.
I watched four movies (Sunshine Cleaning, Atonement, Australia, The Royal Tenenbaums) and read one book (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime). And now I'm here.
Today is the start of the Melbourne Welcome Program, though it's only going to be introductions and icebreakers, but tomorrow the real fun begins and we get to start exploring the city and see the Melbourne zoo and all that, and that is when I will get to take the really good photos.
I miss you all at home! Don't think I don't, because I do :)
Melbourne Uni (that's what they call it here) is lovely, and huge, and I still have yet to explore the whole place. But last night I went with two new study abroad friends to get pizza on Lygon street. It looks like a very typical college town there, only cooler 'cos it's down undah.
I'll update again soon; internet is from the library right now, and I don't want to abuse it.
Cheers!
