Uni-Corns

The only thing more difficult than writing a really long essay (I'm talking 2,000 words or more) is writing a really short essay. My sociology professor assigned us an essay that involves answering two questions...

1. How has Butler begun to show that 'sex' materialises as normative?

2. According to Holmes's article, what are some of the ways that women's and men's bodies become 'gendered'?

...based on this week's readings, but we have to do so in 133 words. For both questions. So 133 words altogether. I have just a few gripes with these specifications.

First of all, one-hundred-and-thirty-three words? What a random number-- why couldn't she make it 150? Or even 130? Is she superstitious to the point where if we don't write 133 words she won't read our papers? On the other hand, maybe that's a good thing... But also, 133 for the two questions together?? These are heavy questions, you guys! I know you haven't done the readings (slackers!) but I have, and they're long and detailed. There's no way I can do this assignment the way she wants unless she doesn't mind me talking like a caveman in my essay. Author good. Me likey.
